Mothers brewing is born from the love of beer and nostalgic tattoo flash art. Their beer, like their can art, is crafted with a mothers love and an attention to detail. For the new series, a barrel-aged beer line, I was asked to create individual pieces of artwork for each label, each as unique as its taste.

The entire materfamilias beer can series was entered into the "Worlds Best Looking Beer Cans" for 2022 held by the BeerCanDesignAwards.com and won amongst giants, with breweries such as New Belgium and Michelob Ultra.

T H E S T Y L E

The series focus was based on the timeless flapper girl flash art. It's a popular historic style of tattoo that originates from the 1920's that focuses on the portrait of a woman. This style was perfect for differentiating each can from each other while exploring different aspects of tattoo culture and people.

For each of the women I really wanted to celebrate people's diversity and stylistic connection to their body art. Tattoos have such a rich cultural history and I wanted each of the women to have a different style belonging to each can as its supporting graphical elements.
